the online booking system was so efficient and easy. Chris and Ian were very helpful on the phone when we had queries about the weather that week whether it would affect our camping holiday being in a tent. When we got there, we knew we made a right choice. The facilities were real 5 stars, really impressed with the toilet block, the washing area and especially the play area and the pitches and at the end we had a wonderful long weekend. Many thanks! |

Hele mooie schone camping.
Very nice camping, superclean toilet building. Beautiful countryside to walk or drive |

We agree with the many positive comments such as friendly staff and cleanliness - I must say there were also a number of rather disappointing elements, firstly having carted our bicycles over 300 miles it would have been nice to know they arent allowed to be ridden on site (something we haven`t seen or heard of in over 20years camping)- the alleged Wifi on site does not include the touring field at all (again not noted on the website)there are too few toilets and we had to walk some distance across very wet grass which could be cut more often, but our main gripe was the dawn chorus every morning from 3-4am caused by barking dogs at the adjacent kennels (something which had upset almost everyone we spoke to)
Dolbeare Park Response
Dear Pete, many thanks for your positive feedback and your constructive comments which we will review in detail. We are sorry that you had a problem with noise from the kennels - had you told us at the time, instead of five weeks later, we would have been better positioned to address the issue. We have good wifi coverage in our touring area however we have never claimed coverage in our camping paddock. Both our website and our brochure explain that cycling is not allowed on the park - we have lots of cycling nearby including the Camel Trail and the Plym Trail. Our booking notes show you were staying at Newquay prior to visiting us and we hope that you were able to make good use of your bikes during your holiday and that this has not put you off returning to Cornwall. |

Having just posted a review and subsequently read through other guest comments, I want to add my views on the negative feedback I have read. I have stayed as a camper and caravanned at both Caravan Club and Camping and Caravanning Club sites over a number of years. I much prefer the Dolbeare style!! More space, a massive camping field (which we didn't use due to having family in a caravan). We were also able to reserve a tent and caravan pitch next to eachother, which you can't do on previously mentioned sites. I have nothing but praise for the site and staff. And no, I'm not related or on commission!! |

Our first time at this site and I'm sure it will not be the last. It is ideally situated for trips further into Cornwall or back into Devon. So many places of interest are within easy reach.
Greatly impressed by the site and the hard-working Ian and Chris. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The facilities are excellent and kept spotless. The showers and toilets seemed to impress everyone, and it was so good to be able to have a truly hot shower if desired. They must be doing something right as even our granddaughter was known to do her share of the washing-up, water collecting and waste disposal. Can't be bad!!
Thanks again for a memorable stay and we will certainly be recommending you to others.

This was our first visit to the site and we can't wait to go back. The owners cannot do enough for you to make sure your stay is a fun one, everything is spotlessly clean, tidy and well kept. We had 5 teenage boys with us and they absolutely loved it. We will be booking for next year as they don't want to go anywhere else! can't wait |

This was our first time using a caravan and we were very nervous about the rules and regulations that we had heard over the net. this however turned out not to be so true, when we arrived we were shown our plot and as we have a continental caravan (the door opens on the drivers side...Its an Eriba),we were also given our first reversing lesson by the site owner. The site was clean and very modern with probably the cleanest toilet facilities we have seen for along time and the showers were spacious enough.Great location and very peaceful in the evenings. We will be booking again for next year and have already told many of our fellow camping friends of this gem of a site. You won't be dissapointed I am sure. |

Lovley site overall, was most surprised at negative comments re staff at park as we found the staff to be most helpful and friendly..some of the best we have encountered in our travels! We enjoyed our stay, although the sun could have been out more! My only gripes really were that the dog walking area was very small, more of a dog walking patch, but there are plenty of lanes nearby to walk, but not safe enough for my 14yr old to take to dog alone, and the gravel paths..the crunch of footsteps early in the morning was an alarm call I could have done without sometimes! Showers and toilets good, although an extra shower in the ladies we all agreed would be a good idea, and perhaps another hairdrier. All in all though I would definately return to Dolbeare Park, especially as my daughter was most put out she had to miss the bbq on Thurs night! |

While the park is run efficiently and is clean and hygienic, I was left underwhelmed overall from my stay at Dolbeare. WiFi is included in the services offered yet at best it is "hit-and-miss". I spent too much time trying to connect and either had no local wireless connection or no web access - and when I di connect it was very slow. As someone who needs daily access to the Web I would not have chosen Dolbeare had I known this.
The rules and regulations seem to take precedence over customer service which just creates a lack of atmosphere.
I tried to cut short my stay by one night(I originally booked for 8 nights) and was told no refund would be entertained but "I could leave anytime I want". This is hardly in keeping with the flexibility required to support touring holiday makers.I have stayed in lots of parks where I often changed and amended my arrangements without any problems - no doubt the t's & c's will be quoted to me in defence of this.
As the owners seem to be hard-working I wish them well and hope they take my observations on board constructively.
DOLBEARE PARK RESPONSE
Dear Pat, many thanks for your positive comments and for sharing your concerns, we welcome our guests feedback. When you bought your laptop in a week into your stay, we reset the router to re-establish the wi-fi connection and you agreed that a 25% refund of the £12 per week fee was fair. Had you mentioned then that you were having performance/throughput problems it would have given us the opportunity to address this at the time. Whilst our wi-fi speeds are limited by the distance from our local BT exchange we do not expect our customers to suffer poor connections. We have therefore refunded the remaining £9 wi-fi fee to the card you made your booking with.
In keeping with the majority of UK parks, our refunds/credits for early departures are discretionary and dependant upon circumstances. As a good example, the Camping and Caravan Club state "If you leave the site early for any reason (including the weather, unless we class the conditions as being too severe to camp), or you leave early without giving a reason, we will keep any unused fees and you will not be entitled to a refund."

We have returned home after 2 weeks caravan holiday. (Only took 3 hours, not bad !!!)
Just wanted to say a big big thanks you to all the staff at Dolbeare park. Every staff member was always friendly and happy to help.
We really enjoyed the BBQ
(which was a great way to meet the other campers on site) The burgers and sausages were perfectly cooked by Chris and local produce too.
As for the facilities : showers and toilets: always clean.
(Maybe a notice in the ladies could make it clear that there are extra showers available, in the disable and the family bathrooms)
Whole site was well presented and we enjoyed playing Chess on the giants chess board.
The pitches are of an excellent size with room for to park the car , caravan and awning and have a grass area to sit, or sun bathe.
Dog walk was most appreciated by Sparky
The directions and entrance to the site are clear and easy to read.
We will definitely return next year |

Dolbeare was an amazing site. So fresh, tidy and quiet!!
All the staff were so helpful. Our 2 year old daughter was poorly one evening and the owner went out of her way to bring us some medication from a local supermarket.
My only criticism is that the on-site shop could have been open for longer each day. |

The site is well situated easy to find and close to the city of plymouth within striking distance of Looe Polpero and Whitsands Bay one of best kept secrets of Cornwall, Kingsands Cawsands any where in Cornwall is not more than 1.5 hours away from site. I recommend this site to all. |

Superb little site and not too busy between the bank holidays. We were also blessed with the weather- sunny and warm most days. Though the wind did get up at one point, and the staff were helpful in allowing us to pitch in a more sheltered spot.

Stayed during the cold start to 2010 - 2 to 3 inches of ice and snow, yet despite this, the owners managed to make the welcome warm and friendly.
Great facilities and the warm and clean toilet block offered a welcome respite from the freezing conditions.
Highly recommended because if they can make -5c bearable then the rest of the year will I'm sure, be great.
Nice location too. 6 or 7 miles west of Plymouth and a few miles north of some beautiful coastline.
Everything you could need and very reasonably priced too.

What a super site! We have been caravanning for the best part of 30 years all over the UK and Europe. This was the first outing in our recently acquired motorhome, health reasons caused us to abandon the caravan.
Without doubt Dolbeare is as good as any site we have ever visited and better than most. The staff are more than helpful in particular Nigel. We had a problem getting the right connection for our digital aerial, tried several places on the way down to no avail. Nigel appeared with the correct bit, attached it to our aerial lead and proceeded to set the new TV up. Thank you Nigel!
We would recommend Dolbeare with no reservations, go and enjoy your visit
