LATE SUMMER 2008

Dolbeare Park News

We have had an absolutely fantastic summer. The weather wasn't the best but our guests more than made up for it with their enthusiasm for finding new adventures and the '101 Things To do in Cornwall on a Rainy Day' was a huge hit.

The weather being as it was meant that BBQ's were not as many as previous years but we did have fun with the Archery and was still a hit even if it was raining!

We have had absolutely amazing reviews this year from our guests - have a look at our Reviews page on this web site. All of these reviews are completely genuine and unedited.

Within the last month, we have received two awards that make all our hard work and time worth it.

The first........

During the past year, we have spent a huge amount of time and energy promoting Nature and Wildlife at Dolbeare Park and finding out ways to ensure that our carbon footprint on the environment is as minimal as possible.

Our hard work has clearly paid off as we were delighted to be awarded a Gold Award from the Green Tourist Business Scheme (GTBS) in July. We would like to thank CoaST (Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project) for their advice and guidance.

The second......

When we bought the park last year, 18 months ago now, one of the first things we did was to employ a consultant for a day from Visit Britain (was English Tourist Board). Visit Britain set the standards and award gradings to the park and its owners based on a huge list of criteria. The Consultant's time was to advise us of all the things that we need to do to Dolbeare Park to ensure that it remained a 4* graded park.

At the time, the list seemed endless, but during the six weeks between the consultancy visit and the actual assessment we worked through the list and were awarded a 4* park status with an assessment total of 89%. This was the highest percentage ever awarded at Dolbeare Park.

During the past year, we have continued to work through the remaining parts of the list and in recognition of the improvements to Dolbeare Park, we have now been graded as a 5* park.

We are absolutely delighted with this award and will continue to improve and enhance Dolbeare Park.

Our Winter Plans

SunsetOur plans this winter will be to refurbish and improve our existing amenities block with little disruption to our guests.

We are open all winter so if you fancy a break from home to see Cornwall at one of the loveliest times of the year - we are the place to be and a warm and friendly welcome will be awaiting you.
